Delivery service DoorDash Canada is responding to a viral video of a driver who was caught red-handed spitting in a customer’s drink order in Whitby.
Last week, a video shared on social media by 6ixbuzz showed a DoorDash driver spitting in a Booster Juice drink prior to delivering it on the customer’s doorstep. Immediately afterwards, the man who ordered the drink confronted the delivery driver after seeing his act on camera.
“This is for my two-year-old son, why would you spit in my drink?” the man asked, to which the driver responded, “I’m so sorry, sir.”
“Why? I want to know why you did it” the man continued. The driver said, “I don’t know” and the man goes on to say “We tipped you, what’s the problem?”
“No problem, sir. My kids are in my car,” the driver said.
“Your kids are in your car, so you spit in my drink for my kids, right? Should I come spit in your kids’ water bottle?” the man responds.

The man then demands the driver to drink his own spit-filled beverage to which the driver refuses and tries to deny that he opened the seal. However, the man confirms he caught the entire ordeal on camera. The video ends with the man telling the driver to never visit his house again.
Now Toronto reached out to DoorDash Canada who provided an update about the driver in question.
“This behaviour is completely unacceptable. DoorDash does not condone any tampering with customer orders, as food safety is one of our top priorities. The Dasher in question has been deactivated from our platform and the customer has been compensated for this appalling experience. We are also reaching out to the customer directly to learn more and further offer our continued support,” a DoorDash spokesperson said in a statement to Now Toronto on Monday.
According to DoorDash’s Food Safety Handling Requirements, when picking up food, drivers cannot “open food containers or tamper with the order in any way.”
